NBSAP Co-Chair Consultant Job: The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is now seeking a Co-Chair Consultant for NBSAP for its Nairobi, Kenya office. Key Responsibilities

April-May:

• Make a comprehensive work plan with assignments, activities, and due dates.
• Establish and manage the steering committee’s meeting agenda, consultations, and working materials.
• Develop a strategy for partnering with Technical and Scientific Cooperation Centers to enhance information sharing and capacity building.
• For the first quarterly members’ meeting, prepare the agenda, the co-chairs’ scripts, the PowerPoint presentations, and the meeting summaries.
• Present the NBSAP Accelerator Partnership to both existing and potential members while refining the recruitment and membership approach.
• It is necessary to assess the three NBSAPs that were submitted to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).
• Establish the Terms of Reference (ToR) for the NBSAP Accelerator Partnership Technical Advisory Committee.

June-July:

• Oversee the creation of the steering committee meeting’s presentations, scripts, and minutes.
• Produce focused promotional materials that highlight the partnership’s key features, achievements, and opportunities for Co-Chair engagement with potential donors.
• Create a Members Work Program following consultations that assesses perks, services, and membership renewal processes.
• Present the NBSAP Accelerator Partnership to both new and existing members while enhancing the hiring and membership procedures.
• Make the agenda, participant list, and engagement strategy for the donor roundtable.
• Oversee the establishment of the NBSAP Accelerator Partnership Technical Advisory Committee.

August:

• Compose a report detailing the co-chair involvement strategies and meeting processes.
• Provide materials to support co-chairing environmental advocacy at international conferences.
• Provide new members, observers, and co-chairs with onboarding materials.
• Organize and lead the second quarterly members’ meeting, including writing the scripts, presentations, and background materials.
• Review and update the membership strategy as you draft new organizational structure and governance policies.
• Provide a comprehensive report on the membership’s composition and state.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Education:
  • Advanced degree from an academic institution in management, international development, biodiversity conservation, environmental science, or behavioral sciences.
  • A first-level university degree plus two more years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree.
• Experience:
  • at least five years of experience in national biodiversity projects and biodiversity protection.
  • demonstrated proficiency in fostering collaborations in settings with multiple stakeholders.
  • strong experience in stakeholder interaction, project creation, and high-level meeting organization.
  • familiarity with implementing international biodiversity policies and National Biodiversity Strategic Action Plans (NBSAPs).
• Languages:
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English is necessary.
  • It is beneficial to know other UN languages, such as French, Spanish, or German.
